Assistant Professor in Residence, University of Connecticut
It is my pleasure to write on behalf of Perry Harovas. I have worked alongside Perry for 15+ years, creating and developing computer animation for entertainment, visual effects for film, medical animations, scientific visualizations and as faculty at the University of Connecticut.
Perry is an experienced and talented animator and visual effects artist and has always delivered professional and visually beautiful animations exceeding the client's needs. I haven’t worked with another artist who has shown more dedication to a project. Perry lives computer animation and visual effects, and will go to any length to translate complex ideas and mechanisms into comprehensible and believable animations. Perry also has the ability to take a project from concept to completion: storyboarding through animation, rendering, editing and delivery.
Perry is an accomplished technical director. He has always developed creative workflows to achieve difficult tasks based on the project's needs. Perry's openness to share the workflows and techniques he develops, helps to create a unified and cohesive animation unit. He is a pleasure to work with and be part of a collaborative team. He is not a person who shies away from a difficult task, but rather embraces the complexity, breaks it down and utilizes the appropriate software and tools in creative ways to accomplish the goal. He has an artistic eye geared toward capturing believable motion and, through lighting, rendering and compositing, achieve compelling final images. He has extensive experience working with particle and dynamic systems, lighting, rendering, compositing and visual node base programming. His technical knowledge, ability to use a huge number of professional applications and willingness to learn, has made sure there are no technical challenges he couldn't solve.
Perry has years of experience teaching in colleges and I am lucky to have worked alongside Perry at UConn. He is a team player, always there to help and support the faculty and department at any time. His professional expertise and caring personality has helped his students learn extremely complex concepts and know how to incorporate those techniques into their own artwork. His teaching doesn't only take place during class hours, but extends to assist and work with students at any time.
I am certain Perry would be a great asset to any production team or university department. He has a deep understanding of his craft, years of professional experience, teaching, and contributing toward a common goal.
August 12, 2015, Dan, worked directly with Perry at University of Connecticut - Digital Media Center
Senior VFX and Compositing Artist, (Contractor) at Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems
Perry is highly skilled (with more than twenty years of experience as a VFX Artist) who delivers quality production of the highest standards. I have worked with him on numerous creative and demanding projects and I have found his years of experience with high-end animation programs such as XSI/Softimage and Maya to be invaluable in delivering an exceptional product on-time and on-budget. Perry has repeatedly demonstrated his knowledge and experience with the more difficult aspects of VFX such as Cloth, Fluids, and Particle Systems by delivering complex and beautiful projects that rely on these elements.
Perry also has intimate knowledge of the complexities of Rendering and Compositing and he can finesse a shot or production that always meets or exceeds the client's expectations.

I had the pleasure of working with Perry for three years. He is not only technical expert in the tools and technologies of visual effects production -- he is had the kind of integrity and work ethic that makes working alongside him truly give you a sense of what the word "excellence" means. I highly recommend Perry. I should also say that he is gifted in the art of teaching and mentoring -- these are often valuable skills that are not as easy to quantify but just as important in today's world where working in teams is essential for success.
June 19, 2015, Simeon worked with Perry at Tribeca Flashpoint Media Arts Academy
Senior Technical Artist - Nether Realm Studios - Warner Brothers Interactive
I had the pleasure of working with Perry while he was Chair of the Visual FX & Animation Department at Flashpoint Academy in Chicago. We worked together on building a curriculum that reflected the standards and culture of the VFX Industry. Perry's love of Visual FX made him a powerful mentor for the students of Flashpoint. He constantly went above and beyond, managing the department while simultaneously creating promotional materials for the school and overseeing student productions.
The most impressive thing about it all was the quality of the materials he was able to produce. Whether managing a student production or a Flashpoint production piece, Perry creates excellence. This was particularly apparent in the contract projects we worked on together. There were many times he would come through on a difficult shot. I'm grateful for the opportunity to have worked with Perry and am looking foreword to our next project.
